Grid planning tools are expensive, desktop-locked, and built for experts.

Most network planners reach for PowerFactory or PSCAD software that costs thousands per license, requires installation, and has a learning curve that takes quite a while.

Desktop-only software

PowerFactory and PSCAD are installed per machine. Sharing a project means exporting files and hoping your colleague has the same version installed and configured the same way.

No real GIS integration

CAD and GIS are disconnected. Importing a DXF into a planning tool means hours of manual georeferencing and layer cleanup every single time.

No way to share results

Sharing a project means exporting and compressing. The recipient still needs compatible software. No legacy tool offers simple link-based sharing.

Too much friction before you can do anything

Multiple configuration steps before placing a single component. Setup delays actual work.

From a blank map to a validated, simulated grid in minutes.

01

Import your data or start from scratch

Upload a DXF, GeoJSON or Shapefile. GridPlan detects coordinate systems automatically and proposes a topology review before writing anything to your project. Or skip imports and place nodes directly on the map.

02

Build your network

Place substations, transformers, generators, load points, switches, busbars, capacitor banks, junctions and poles. Connect them with overhead lines, underground cables or distribution feeders. Define voltage levels and conductor parameters per element.

03

Validate and auto-fix topology

Run the validator to detect disconnected nodes, missing sources and short circuits. Use auto-fix to resolve common issues in one click.

04

Run load flow

Choose the built-in radial sweep solver or pandapower Newton-Raphson engine. Results appear as colored overlays on the map: red lines for overloaded cables, voltage rings on each node showing per-unit deviation from nominal.

Export or share with a link

Export in five formats or share a read-only URL. No account required to view. Print or export to PDF directly from the viewer.

Built for distribution network planning. Not a general GIS tool with electrical add-ons.

01

Two load flow solvers

Built-in radial sweep for fast results on radial networks, plus pandapower Newton-Raphson for meshed networks and greater numerical accuracy.

02

Interactive map editor

MapLibre GL editor with custom basemaps, WMS/WMTS tile support, full undo/redo, multi-project handling.

03

CAD and GIS import

DXF files with automatic CRS detection and directional snapping to prevent false cable connections. GeoJSON and Shapefile also supported.

04

Topology review pipeline

Dry-run imports with confidence scoring, a visual review interface and selective commit. Invalid topology is flagged on-the-fly.

05

Read-only shared viewer

Share projects via unique URL. View full network, voltage overlays and results without login or edit access.

06

Secure and isolated

Project isolation per user. Rate-limited API, CSRF protection, HSTS, full security headers and encrypted credentials.
